What is Copilot Chat?
Copilot Chat is an AI-powered assistant integrated into Microsoft 365 apps (like Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and more). It helps you:
- Automate tasks.
- Summarise, draft, and analyse content.
- Elevate your writing, change the tone.
- Translate documents
- Create images
- Error check things such as formulas
- Information Retrieval: Quickly find answers, summarise documents, or explain complex topics.
- Task Automation: Generate reports, draft emails, create presentations or summarise long email chains
- Decision Support: Compare options, analyse data, and provide recommendations.

How to access Copilot Chat

In Microsoft 365 Apps: Look for the Copilot icon in the ribbon or sidebar.

In Teams: Use the Copilot Chat tab or type /copilot in the chat.
- In Outlook: Click Copilot in top ribbon or Summarise or draft emails.
Tips for Best Results
- Be specific: “Summarise this document in 3 bullet points” works better than “Summarise.” or Instead of “help me with a report,” say “create a 500-word summary of this report focusing on key financial metrics.”
- Use context: Provide background info for better results.
- Combine commands: “Summarise this email and draft a polite response.”
- Iterate: Refine outputs by asking follow-up questions.
- Combine Tools: Use Copilot Chat alongside apps like Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word for seamless integration.
